First Day of School

Today was bittersweet. Everyone did great on their first day of school. I am so grateful for wonderful teachers. The kids all loved their teachers. We dropped Madalyn off at her class first (5th grade). She refused to hold Steve's hand while we walked. He was distraught over this. At least we got hugs from her! We left her there to take the boys to their classes. A girl that lives 2 doors down is in her class- she was happy about that. We then took Chad- he was a little nervous since he didn't recognize anyone. He ended up walking with us to the Kindergarten section- then walking himself back to class (3rd grade). Steve and I took Westin into his class. It was so cute! I could totally teach Kindergarten again! There is one girl from our ward in his class and another girl from another ward that we have met at our pool. Other than that- everyone is new (notice how he didn't know any boys). He had such a cute class. They sat on the carpet in front of the teacher while she orientated the parents. They sat there perfectly quiet- it was so, so abnormal? Not usually how Kindergartners act- it is still the honeymoon phase! Westin was so excited to see his seat and look at all the fun things in his room. I am sure he will have a great year! Tomorrow is the first day that he stays the entire time- today was only about an hour and fifteen minutes. Tomorrow I can be sad....

After school, Madalyn and Chad could not wait to tell me how much they loved their teachers and the new principal (he is pretty cool). Madalyn loves the new school and is so excited to finally be with her brother again. Of course, Chad's teacher told me what a great student he is- so polite and helpful. They both had homework- kind of a bummer for ME on the first day. It was a challenge to start homework and get Madalyn to cheer by 5:00. They were both doing homework in the car. I think it will take a couple of days to get the routine down. All in all it was a great day! Now- I will try to download the pictures.....
